- Installation Instructions
-
- ScriptX must be installed on a hard disk. Do not attempt to run ScriptX
- from the CD-ROM disk, because ScriptX needs to be able to create
- temporary files in the directory that holds the ScriptX executable.
-
- To install ScriptX on any MacOS or Windows machine, move the appropriate
- directory or folder to your hard disk. The three platform directories are
- stored in the ScriptX Platforms folder.
-
-
- Windows Notes
-
- XGA and XGA II PCs
-
- Do not install ScriptX on a machine with an XGA graphics adapter.
- ScriptX works on machines with the XGA II graphics adapter. It does not
- work on machines with the older XGA graphics adapter.
-
- Use Windows Setup in the "Main" folder to determine which XGA adapter is
- installed on your system.
-
- The ScriptX installation program cannot tell the difference between a
- machine with an XGA adapter and a machine with an XGA II adapter, and
- the installer allows you to install ScriptX on a machine with either
- adapter. Even though you can install ScriptX on a machine with an XGA
- adapter, ScriptX will fail at startup and exit when you try to run it.

-
- PC Configuration Information
-
- ScriptX runs on the PC hardware and software configurations shown in
- this section. It may also run on other PC configurations; the
- configurations shown in this section are the ones that have been tested
- and are known to work.
-
- ScriptX runs on the video configurations shown in Table 5 and on the
- audio configurations shown in Table 6. In these tables, a plus sign
- means that configuration has been tested and is known to work, and a
- dash means that configuration has not been tested.
-
- Note that to import audio or video on a PC you need to have a sound card
- and appropriate drivers installed.
-
- Do not install ScriptX on a machine with an XGA graphics adapter; see
- "XGA and XGA II PCs" below for more information.
-
- Whenever possible, the following resolutions have been tested with the
- configurations shown in Table 5:
- * 640 x 480
- * 800 x 600
- * 1024 x 768

- Note 1: In 8-bit, the message "foreground indices: GetDIBits Failed:" is
- displayed, but it does not affect the behavior of ScriptX.
-
- Note 2: In 8-bit, modify your <windows>\system.ini file as follows: (a)
- Find the [MGA.drv] section, and (b) add the line: DevBits=OFF. This will
- fix many bitmap problems.
-
- Note 3: In 24-bit, invisible color masking may not work if the invisible
- color is set to white.
